Why this exists

Latin American venture is usually discussed in headlines: a unicorn round in São Paulo, a fintech crash in Mexico City, a fund closing in Miami. What is missing is a map. Capital in the region is consolidating toward a small number of established managers; new unicorn creation has slowed sharply since 2021; and Brazil and Mexico now account for the large majority of dollars deployed. That is the terrain any investor has to understand before the first pitch deck.

European capital looks at the region with curiosity and without that map. This site is an attempt to draw it — sector by sector, deal by deal — from a desk in London, by someone who grew up inside a Latin American operating business and spent his twenties in European capital markets.

Everything here is written to be judged later. Each memo carries its date and its sources. The deal database is logged weekly. If a thesis ages badly, it stays up.
